Pre-hire assessments are an add-on feature for enterprise accounts. This feature creates a separate QA account where you test job applicants' technical skills without mixing the applicants' performance with your employees' analytics. If you are interested in pre-hire assessments, contact your Customer Success Manager for more information.
Pre-Hire Assessments
Pre-hire assessments are a tool to let enterprises administer technical skills assessments to prospective employees as part of their interview process.
When pre-hire assessments are enabled, you get a parallel QA account to your regular enterprise account. This approach protects the integrity of your employee analytics in the following ways:
- You can have separate, hiring-focused administrators, for your pre-hire account
- The two accounts have separate libraries so candidates can't access the custom content in your primary account
- Candidates' performance on pre-hire assessments are kept separate from your regular enterprise analytics.
Your pre-hire account has the same name as your regular account with Pre-Hire at the end. For example, if your regular account name is Acme, then your parallel pre-hire account is Acme - Pre-hire. You will receive separate credentials to log in to your pre-hire account.
You purchase single-use licenses at a special rate for pre-hire assessments. Each candidate (identified by email address) uses a pre-hire assessment license when they complete the assessment. You can see how many licenses you have left on the licenses tab within the pre-hire assessments account.
Inviting Candidates
You invite a candidate to take a pre-hire assessment in either of two ways:
- Creating a team and inviting all your candidates. You should create a separate team for each different assessment you want to administer.
- Creating a new Pre-hire Assessment from the Pre-Hire screen.
Note: You cannot invite candidates using an email address that is already registered in a QA account. This might happen if the candidate coincidentally already has a QA account or if you are testing internal candidates. In these cases, the candidate should provide a different email address to use.
Once you send the invitation, the candidate receives an email with a link to log in and complete the assessment. After a candidate has completed the assessment, they are removed from the account. The candidate can continue to log in to QA as an individual user to do things like use free training or start a free trial but will not have access to your assessments or any other content.
Creating Custom Content for an Assessment
Just as in your regular account, you can use Content Engine in your pre-hire account to create custom content to assign as an assessment. Since your pre-hire account is separate from your regular account, the content you create in your regular account cannot be assigned in your pre-hire account. You must create the custom content to assign to pre-hire candidates in the Content Engine in your pre-hire account.
Creating a Pre-Hire Assessment
As mentioned previously, you can send one or more candidates a pre-hire assessment to complete by creating a team, choosing the assessment, and adding the candidates to the team. If you don't want to create a team, you can also create a pre-hire assessment from the Pre-Hire screen.
When you log in to your pre-hire account, you see a new Pre-Hire tab on the navigation, under Organization:
From here, click the Create Pre-Hire Assessment button in the upper right corner to start the process.
Viewing Pre-Hire Assessment Results
Once the candidates have completed the assessment, you can see some results on the Pre-Hire screen. Click an assessment from the list to open the results.
Here you can see:
- the name of the assessment
- the best score on the assessment and who earned it
- the average score on the assessment
- the list of candidates who have not yet completed the assessment on the Active Users tab
- the list of candidates who have completed the assessment on the Assessed tab
- a summary of what the assessment covers in the Assessment Content tab
You can also use the Analytics to view results for the team or individual, just as you do in your normal enterprise account.
Hiring a Candidate
When you hire a candidate, you do not have to lose the candidate's progress and skill information from the pre-hire assessment. Contact your CSM to request the candidate's user data be moved from your pre-hire account to your primary account under the user's new work email address.
