Welcome to our lab guide!
The most common issues reported for our Hands-on Lab Advanced Roles and Groups Management Using IAM is either the EC2 creation fails or an IAM permission error occurs.
First, in order to create the instance without an error, please ensure that when you navigate to EC2 from IAM that your region is set to Oregon. You can see where to check your region in the screenshot below:
When you navigate to another service from IAM, the region may change to anything other than the required one, which is Oregon. When this happens, just change the region back to Oregon, and you should be able to create the instance without any permission errors.
Secondly, for IAM labs, you have to name groups and users EXACTLY what they are in the lab instructions. This INCLUDES capitalization. So if the user in the instructions is John, but you make it john, then the lab will fail. If the group is DevOps in the instructions, but you make it devops, then the lab will also fail.
We hope you have found these extra tips helpful. If you need further assistance, please email platformsupport@qa.com.
