Hello!
Welcome to our Lab Guide for our hands-on lab Back-Up and Restore VMs with Azure Backup.
The most-reported question from this lab is how to connect to the remote desktop. Below, you can find the necessary steps to do so:
-
Ensure that the environment has loaded to 100% before launching Microsoft Azure
-
Create the Azure Recovery Services Vault, as required
-
Once the deployment has been completed, navigate to virtual machines
-
Choose the available VM and connect via RDP. The default IP address should be set to public, but in case it is not, click on the arrow and set it to public:
-
An RDP file will be downloaded to your computer and you should be able to connect to it using the given user name and password:
Alternatively, if you followed these steps, but ran into a connection error when you opened the downloaded RDP file, then your network might be blocking RDP traffic. This is common on enterprise networks that block RDP traffic due to security concerns. If you're working from behind a corporate firewall, please attempt the lab again by using a different network.
