This document lists the system requirements for using labs in QA. This document contains the following sections:
The labs offer a secure and convenient way for you to try the features of technologies like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and many more within the context of those technologies.
You do not need your own account credentials for the technology to access our labs; the labs grant you access automatically. However, making sure your system meets the following requirements optimizes your experience with the labs.
Account Type
Labs are available to individuals using personal accounts as well as companies using enterprise accounts. Some labs may not be available during a free trial period.
Supported Devices
We don’t recommend using mobile devices for our labs due to display limitations: labs require using at least two windows at the same time. Labs involving the AWS Console may not work at all on mobile devices. We strongly suggest that you run the labs from a laptop or desktop computer.
Supported Browsers
Labs are available through the latest desktop versions of
- Mozilla Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Apple Safari
- Microsoft Edge (chromium-based)
Microsoft Internet Explorer and the original version of Microsoft Edge (pre-chromium) are not supported.
Connection Speed
We recommend at least a DSL-quality connection: 3MB/s of bandwidth and 300ms of latency. To check your internet connection bandwidth, visit http://www.speedtest.net/.
Firewall Rules
Many labs require an SSH or RDP connection to a remote server.
If you have a firewall or a software that limits your connection, you can create rules to permit the following required ports:
- 22 (TCP)
- 3389 (TCP and UDP)
If you need to permit IP ranges, and require more information about Amazon's IP, click here:

You can also consider using a remote virtual machine or a VPN to avoid the need for rules. For example, AWS Workspaces ( https://aws.amazon.com/worksp
