If the team has only one training plan assigned and a member does not complete it by the due date, by default the training plan appears with due date in the past on the member's dashboard and the team manager's training plan screen. The following image shows a past-due training plan on the manager's Training Plans screen.
The member can continue access the training plan from the Activity tab of the dashboard and the member's progress beyond the due date does appear in the manager's tools and reports.
Force Training Plan Expiration Option
However, the manager who assigned the training plan (or any administrator) can change this behavior by using the Force Training Plan expiration setting on the Training Plan screen. If you enable this setting, the system closes the training plan after its due date.
Tip: For information on the exact time when the platform closes the training plan, see What time does a training plan expire?
In this case, members will no longer see the training plan on the Activity tab of the dashboard and any further progress on the training plan (if the member were to find it in the library and complete it) will not appear as progress on the training plan assignment to the manager.
Tip: You can leave this option disabled during the training plan and enable it later, after the training plan due date, if you decide the member doesn't need to try to make any more progress on it and you want to remove it from their dashboard.
If the team has multiple training plans assigned
A team can have multiple training plans assigned but works on only one at a time. See Rearranging Training Plans Assigned to a Team for Enterprise for information about assigning multiple training plans and, when needed, changing their order.
If a team receives a training plan assignment when it is already working on a different training plan, the system creates a queue for the team to work on. This image shows a team with two training plans assigned.
As soon as the due date for the first training plan passes, the second training plan starts. When the due date for the second training plan passes, the third training plan starts, and so on until the team completes the entire queue.
It does not matter whether one or more members of the team have not completed the first training plan: when the due date comes, the second Training Plan starts regardless. By default, any member who is behind schedule has the chance to put in extra training time to complete the first training plan while also making progress on the second one. The following image shows the dashboard for a user who is working on both an overdue training plan as well as the next one in the queue.
Again, the manager who assigned the training plan or any administrator can override the default behavior of the training plan by using the Force Training Plan expiration setting on the Training Plan screen. In that case, the training plan would simply close on the due date and the member would begin working on the next training plan in the queue.
