What Is a Smart Assessment
A smart assessment is a test to evaluate your proficiency with a particular job role skill. This type of test gets to a reliable score by adapting the question difficulty based on your performance on previous questions.
Each smart assessment takes 10-20 minutes to complete and includes about 20 questions. Each smart assessment measures only one job role skill, so you need to take several of them to get a complete picture of your proficiency in a technology.
Tip: Each question on the smart assessment includes an answer choice you can select to indicate you don't know the correct answer yet. The smart assessment does count this answer choice as an incorrect answer. However, we encourage you not to guess on questions you don't know so that you can discover your true proficiency level and start the training that's right for you.
Once you complete a smart assessment, you cannot retake it for 2 days. The waiting period gives you time to complete enough training to make a noticeable different in your score. Because this exam is adaptive, immediately retaking the exam isn't likely to change your score.

How to Take Smart Assessments for Enterprise Team Members
Enterprise team members are assigned smart assessments as part of certain training assignments. When you receive a training assignment that includes a smart assessment, you see a notification like this in the My Assignments tab of your dashboard:
Use the following steps to complete the smart assessment:
- Click the Learn button to start.
A screen with information about the training assignment appears. In the Smart Skill Goals section, you can see what skill or skills you will be learning with this training. It shows your current number of stars in this skill and your goal number of stars. - Click Take assessment next to the smart skill you want to assess.
A window appears asking if you'd like to skip the smart assessment. A smart assessment can take as much as 30 minutes, so if you know you are brand new to a skill, you can save time by skipping the assessment and starting the training at the beginner level. - Click Yes, take assessment.
A page with information about the smart assessment appears. - Click Start assessment. Answer each question until you complete the assessment.
After you complete the questions, your results appear. In the following example, the team member completed the smart assessment and achieved 1 star for the skill. The team member can skip the 0 star beginner content, saving 4 hours and 41 minutes. The goal for this skill is 2 stars, so the team member can start on the content designed for people who already have 1 star.
If you complete the smart assessment with as many stars as you need to meet your goal, you can skip training on this skill altogether and save even more time.
