This article describes how to use the Skills Readiness Solution tools—programs, careers, Smart Skills, and Smart Assessments—together to maximize efficiency. The Skills Readiness Solution tools are available to enterprise accounts. If you don't already see them in your account, contact your CSM or support@cloudacademy.com. This article is written for administrators and team managers.
This article contains the following sections:
Step 1: Set Up Career Paths
You start by setting up your career paths. You choose the skills that your team members who are in that career need to do their work successfully.
The easiest way to start is to customize a delivered career path. After you click Create a career path, hover over the career path that sounds most like the one you want and click Customize.
Customize the name and description of the career path, and the names of the job roles. You can remove job roles or Smart Skills from the list, but if you add additional job roles or skills, make sure you choose delivered Smart Skills to get the most out of your automation.
For each job role in the career path, you indicate how high they need to score on the skills (the number of stars) at that point in their career.
Step 2: Assign Job Roles to Members
Next, you need to assign each team member a job role. You have several options for how to do the assignment, but the simplest is to add the members from the Career detail screen. See the Career Paths and Job Roles article for step-by-step instructions.
Step 3: Assign a Training Program
You realize the real benefit of the automation capabilities of the Skills Readiness Solution in this last step where you assign the training program. The easiest way to do this step is from the Career detail screen.
Open the career path that contains the job role to which you want to assign a program. Click the plus button next to the Programs heading on the job role. The Create program process starts.
In the Skills and content step, choose the Select skills button that appears below the Skill-based training heading. The Choose Smart Skills from job role? window appears.
As this window explains, this option aggregates all the training for all the Smart Skills on the job role.
After you assign this program, the application assigns the team members a Smart Assessment for each skill. The members' performance on the Smart Assessment determines their starting skill level, and the skill level you specified on the job role is their goal.
The platform assigns the members the training that's right for their current skill level. The members can skip any training they don't need. For example, if the goal is 3 stars and a member scores 2 stars on the initial Smart Assessment, that member can skip the training for 0 and 1 stars.
Even better, as more team members achieve this job role, this program continues to assign this skill-based program to them. In this way, skill-based programs are a "set-and-forget" solution to ensure that all team members are ready with the skills they need to be successful in their career.
