This article discusses the permissions and procedures involved in moving a team member from one team to another team within your organization.

Example Organizational Structure

The following graphic shows a simplified organizational hierarchy. You can refer it as you review the examples.

Within an organization, the team managers of parent teams have the same access to information and tools for child teams as they do for their own team. For example, the manager of Team P can access information and tools only for Team P, but the team manager for Team D has access to all information for Teams D, O, and P. Administrators have access to all the data and tools for all teams across the organization.

Permissions for Creating Teams

Team managers can create subteams of their own team and add the members from the parent team to it. For example, the manager of Team C might have created Team M as a subteam and assigned members from Team C for a special training initiative.  

Moving a Member from Team M to Team N

Team M to Team N are siblings in this organization, so the manager of each team has no visibility into the membership of the other. You need a team manager from a parent team (in this example, Team C or Team A) to move the member. An administrator can also move the member.

While the member is on Team M, the manager of Team M has access to the member's data, such as completed Training Plans and skill profile. Once the member moves to Team N, the manager of Team M no longer has that access. Instead, the manager of Team N has access to all the past and current data.

Moving a Member from Team M to Team O

Again, the manager of Teams M and O have no visibility into each other's team membership to make the move. Unlike the previous example, though, the teams do not share the same parent team at the Group Manager level. Only the team manager from group A or an administrator could make this move.

Removing a Member from a Team

A team manager can remove members from their teams. If a member was moving from Team M to Team O, the team manager of Team M could remove the member. However, the admin would still need to perform the process of adding that member to Team O.
